The ID Travel Group Foundation for Better Living is dedicated to providing educational opportunities and enriching lives in countries where the ID Travel Group operates.
The ID Travel Group Foundation for Better Living is an IRC Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
To date, we have raised over $100,000 towards relief efforts as a result of recent natural disasters. Currently, these destinations are still in need of assistance as they struggle to rebuild their lives. Please consider supporting our cause with a tax-deductible donation today. We thank you in advance for your generosity!
The Foundation's mandate is to assist the quality of life in areas where the ID Travel Group operates, focusing on the Caribbean, and especially on improving educational opportunities. Its most significant commitment has been to endow a graduate scholarship at Oxford University in Social Sciences, open to residents of Caribbean countries, where the Foundation perceives a chronic need to raise the level of management skills.
In addition, the Foundation makes funds available to provide short term assistance to residents following natural and human disasters, such as hurricanes and health issues.
Maurice Bonham-Carter is a long time hospitality leader with over 35 years of worldwide experience in the industry. He began his career at JP Morgan & Co rising to Managing Director, where he oversaw banking responsibilities for the Caribbean and Latin America.
Previous assignments included spells in London and Singapore, with an active role in financing hospitality and tourism projects. Since leaving the bank in 1988, he has focused his attention on investments in the tourism sector, and has owned and overseen several hotel projects in the Caribbean, including Long Bay Beach Resort that he developed into the largest hotel in the British Virgin Islands at the time. For the past 18 years, he has been an owner of Anguilla’s Arawak Inn.
Over 30 years ago, he founded New York based Island Destinations, with the initial intent of providing reservations and marketing services for his Caribbean resorts. This entity has now expanded to one of North America’s most respected luxury tour operators – known today as the ID Travel Group – with offices in New York and Singapore, servicing discerning leisure travelers though their chosen travel professionals in four continents.
In 2015 Bonham-Carter also founded the ID Travel Group Foundation for Better Living, Inc. to assist the quality of life and improve educational opportunities in areas where the ID Travel Group operates, focusing initially on the Caribbean. To date, the non-profit organization has endowed a graduate scholarship for Caribbean residents at Oxford University, has assisted special needs children and a school in Anguilla.
Bonham-Carter was born and raised in England and graduated from Oxford University with a Master’s Degree, majoring in Economics. He resides in Larchmont, New York and is kept occupied by his grandchildren and his business interests.
We come together, in solidarity, to reflect on the impacted islands, as well as our neighbors in the US that have been devastated by the path of the recent hurricanes.
While the immediate destruction of these acts of nature have subsided, our island nations in particular, are left with the daunting task of keeping their families safe and rebuilding their lives.
Our newest mandated mission is to immediately raise funds for our island partners in despair.100% of funds will go directly to purchasing relief items for island nations listed, but not limited to: Anguilla, St. Barths, British Virgin Islands and the Turks and Caicos.
Relief items donated to date:
In keeping with our Foundation's mission to support education, relief efforts will also be focused on schools most in need. Our first two adopted schools are the Enid Capron Primary School in Five Cays, Turks and Caicos and Vivien Vanterpool Primary School in Anguilla.
Relief items donated to date:
As there is still much more to be done throughout these islands that deliver unforgettable vacation experiences, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the ID Travel Group Foundation for Better Living’s mission to assist these devastated destinations.

We are pleased to acknowledge Sapphire Vital (Commonwealth of Dominica) as our 2018 ID Travel Group Foundation Bonham-Carter Graduate Scholarship recipient.
Sapphire will be working towards her
M.S in Environmental Change and Management and will be starting classes Fall of 2018.
"My name is Sapphire Vital and I am from the Nature Island of the Caribbean, the Commonwealth of Dominica. However, I consider myself to be a true representation of the Caribbean as I have spent the majority of my childhood in the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as Barbados. My initial appreciation for the natural environment led me to pursue a B.S. in Civil with Environmental Engineering at the University of the West Indies. Over time, this appreciation grew into an ever blossoming awareness of the environment's significance, sensitivity to its mistreatment and desire to be an active part in finding solutions to environmental problems.
In pursuit of this desire, I currently work as an Environmental Consultant with the Basel Convention Regional Centre for the Caribbean. I am also heavily involved in the Dominica Youth Environment Organisation Inc., where I serve on the Executive Board and as the Beach Clean-Up Coordinator.
Climate change is widely known to be the most pressing environmental issue of modern time. Having experienced Hurricane Maria firsthand, I have witnessed the severity of its immediate and subsequent impacts. For Dominica, the key to full recovery encompasses a holistic approach, which touches on areas such as rebuilding, mitigation, preparedness and sustainable development.
The ID Travel Group Foundation Bonham-Carter Graduate Scholarship has given me the opportunity to take the next step of my journey to the University of Oxford, Christ Church, to study for an MSc in Environmental Change and Management (ECM.) I am looking forward to gaining the academic knowledge and analytic skills needed to become an impactful decision maker. As a student at the University of Oxford, I will be able to interact with a wide cross section of students and mentors; I look forward to learning and growing from their diverse perspectives, networking, and building friendships.
I am grateful for the opportunity afforded by the ID Travel Group Foundation Bonham-Carter Graduate Scholarship, as it has given me a chance to pursue my passion."
